"Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another." (1 John 4:11)

What can I expect when I visit the landersville church of christ?

You will be warmly greeted by many members of the congregation but never embarrassed or singled out.  Folks here will enjoy talking with you and getting to know you, whether you are just passing through or you live in the area and just stopped in to visit us.  We will be privileged to have you with us.

Our worship service is orderly and reverent.  The New Testament Bible is the authority and guide that we use in planning the conduct of our services.

DRESS

Most members dress casually and modestly.  A pair of jeans and shirt is common attire.  A few men like to wear a coat and tie.  The women usually wear dresses or slacks.  On our feet you might see dress shoes, boots, sandals, tennis shoes, high heels, or something else.  The bottom line is that we will love you and be grateful to have you with us whether you are wearing a dapper three-piece suit or you're barefooted in your overalls!

SINGING   (1 Colosians 3:16, Hebrews 2:12, 1 Corinthians 14:15)

Our singing is "a capella," meaning that it is unaccompanied by musical instruments of any kind.  Songs are usually led with great enthusiasm by Harold Martin.

COMMUNION (THE LORD'S SUPPER)  (1 Corinthians 11:23-30, Acts 20:7)

Communion is served every Sunday morning and then again at Sunday evening services for those who were unable to attend morning worship.

The communion consists of unsweetened grape juice (fruit of the vine) representing the blood of Christ and unleavened bread to represent His body.  These are passed along each row.  The juice is served from a tray in separate individual cups.  A tray of unleavened bread is then passed along each row.

The Lord's Supper is a time of quiet reflection to remember the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross.

GIVING   (1 Corinthians 16:1-2, 2 Corinthians 9:7)

A collection plate is passed around the congregation during Sunday worship for members of the Landersville congregation to give back a portion of their earnings to support the work of the church.  The amount each member gives is determined by that individual and only needs to be known by them and the Lord.

Please feel comfortable just passing the collection plate on to the next person since there is no expectation for you to give.

PRAYER   (1 Timothy 2:12)

Several prayers are conducted during each service.  These are spoken aloud by someone in the congregation while the rest of the congregation sits or stands quietly.

PREACHING   (Acts 20:7)

Most services include a sermon delivered by a preacher. Each sermon is normally concluded with an invitation for people to come forward to be baptized into the Lord's church or maybe to just share their burdens and ask for the prayers of the congregation to get them through a difficult time in their life. (You can click here if you would like to learn more about baptism in the church.)

BIBLE STUDY

Bible study is held on Sunday morning at 10 AM before morning worship and also on Wednesday evening at 7 PM.  We have small Bible study classes for children of all age groups that are held in our classrooms and in the fellowship hall.  Our adult Bible study class is in the auditorium.  Your children will be made very welcome in their class by the teacher and the other students.  If they feel uncomfortable about going to the Bible study classes, no one will object to them staying with you in the adult class.

If you would like to visit us but there is something about which you're still unsure,

please contact us and we'll be happy answer your questions and try to put your concerns to rest.
